Epistle of Paul to the Colossians
Sanctification can only be found through union with Jesus Christ.

Chapter 1
Paul is in captivity in Rome. He greets the faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse, which is in the valley of Lycus near Laodicea.
The congregation at Colosse was founded by Paul's colleague Epaphras.
Paul teaches about Jesus Christ

[12] Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
[13] Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
[14] In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
[15] Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
[16] For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Chapter 2
Paul teaches
|
[8] Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
|
He proclaims that the fulness of the Godhead dwells in Christ.
He also teaches about the atonement and crufixion of Christ.

[13] And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Chapter 3
Paul teaches:

[2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
|
Paul teaches about family relationships:
|
[18] Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
[19] Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
[20] Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
[21] Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Chapter 4
Paul tells the saints to continue in prayer and thanksgiving.
Paul mentions his associates including Luke, the beloved physician; and Aristarchus, his fellowprisoner.
