Alan Alexander Milne (1882 - 1956) was
an author, poet, and playwright. He grew up in London, where
he was taught and mentored by H.G. Wells.
Milne always acknowledged that it was
his wife, Daphne, and his young son, Christopher Robin, who inspired
him to write the poems and stories.
Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner have entertained
and inspired countless readers throughout the world.
He intended these stories for the child within us.
